Counselor Troi's mother pays an unexpected visit to the U.S.S. Enterprise, informing her daughter of the marriage plans her late father had arranged on Deanna's behalf. Honoring the traditional Betazoid customs, Troi dutifully, yet halfheartedly, prepares to marry Wyatt, the son of her father's best friend. Wedding preparations between the two families create humorous bickering and banter, not to mention confusion and mixed feelings for Troi's former lover, Commander William Riker. The wedding plans are thwarted, however, when Wyatt realizes his long-time fantasy lover is real and aboard a Tarellian vessel containing the last survivors of a biological warfare blast.
