Stargate SG-1 eindigt na 10 seizoenen

Al een aantal seizoenen werd er door de schrijvers ervan uit gegaan dat het op dat moment huidige seizoen het laatste zou zijn aangezien de serie telkens met één jaar verlengd werd. Nu hebben ze wel rekening gehouden met een seizoen 11 en wordt de serie met pensioen gestuurd.

Ik weet niet hoever ze zijn met de productie maar ik neem aan dat het nu nog mogelijk is de boel naar een eind te schrijven of naar een punt dat het opgepakt kan worden voor een eventuele film of miniserie?

As part of an in-depth interview with TV Guide magazine, Stargate SG-1 exec producer Brad Wright reveals that while Sci Fi Channel may have announced the series' end after its 10th season wraps up, the show might go on. Promising "a very satisfying end to the season," Wright tells us that the finale is "not necessarily an end to SG-1 by any means." While Wright's ideal is to take SG-1 back to the big screen, a string of TV-movies — and/or a new spin-off series — might be a more likely outcome. "From MGM's perspective, we don't view SG-1 as a television series, we view it as a franchise, and one with a lot of vibrant life," says studio spokesman Jeff Pryor. "There's absolutely no reason in the world there couldn't be and won't be another series that takes part in the Stargate universe." Noting that even Sci Fi was pleasantly impressed by SG-1's longevity — the expectation at one time was to usher it off the air soon after Stargate Atlantis' debut — original programming exec Mark Stern says, "We love this franchise, and if there are other ways to explore this world, we're certainly open to it. This is not the end of our journey with Stargate by any means."

Ik vind het wel jammer dat ze er van uit waren gegaan dat ze nog een seizoen kregen want ik had gelezen dat de producers met seizoen 10 niet veel van plan waren en veel stand alone eps wouden doen, ik weet niet in hoever dit tot nu toe is gebeurd, maar ik ben toch al niet zo'n fan van stand alone eps, daar kijk ik wel csi en dat soort series voor.

ze hadden haar in ripple effect makkelijk kunnen houden, dat de aarde waar ze terug heen wou al vernietigd was en dat ze niet meer terug kon dus dat ze daar bleef, dat had mooie situaties kunnen opleveren omdat het voor allen vreemd is.

Het is een sci-fi serie, zo moeilijk is het niet om een dood karakter terug te laten komen.

er staan daar twee feiten.

er staat niet dat de feiten met elkaar verband houden.

hoewel het dus mogelijk is dat het een keuzevan de schrijvers was, is het ook nog steeds mogelijk dat rothery ermee wile kappen.

ik vond trouwens dat t in die ep al heel snel duidelijk was dat O'Neill niet dood was

Ik had ep 1 niet gezien van heroes (hoewel ik niet weet of dat hiervoor uitmaakt), maar ik had het niet meteen door. Wel wist ik dat het niet zeker was, omdat die man alleen zei dat ie op een brancard lag en later zei dat er "iemand" dood was.
En ik vind het niet eens zo erg als er een vast karakter dood gaat, misschien dat de actrice er nu misschien niet blij mee is. Maar het geeft wel wat meer aan die ep, wat dramatischer.

Ik kan er niet echt van wakker liggen dat Frasier er niet meer inzit. Ik mis er eigenlijk niet eens.

• We don't look at Stargate SG-1 as a TV show, but a franchise," MGM spokesman Jeff Pryor told Multichannel News. "It is our intention to vigorously find a way to extend the franchise."
  
  Fans have speculated this week that that could mean an SG-1 feature film, TV movie, mini-series ... or even Season Eleven on another network. U.S. cable networks such as SpikeTV and G4 have been expanding their original and science fiction programming, and former SG-1 home Showtime may be open the series again following its five years of great success on basic cable.
  
  But such a move may be out of the question, if SCI FI Channel has anything to say about it. "There is not going to be [an 11th season] on U.S. television," Mark Stern, SCI FI's executive vice president of programming, told Multichannel flatly. "Our contract with MGM prohibits it."
  
  "It's done a great job, rejuvenated with the additions of Ben [Browder], Claudia [Black] and Beau [Bridges], but we think we've come to the end of those stories," Stern said. "We really felt like it was the right time to segue out, for the show not to overstay its welcome."
  
  Reruns of Stargate SG-1 will continue on SCI FI following the spring 2007 finale.
  
  He added that the network "would look for opportunities for some or all of the members to appear on Atlantis." Whether SCI FI hopes to replace some Atlantis regulars with SG-1 regulars, or simply bring SG-1 cast members in for occasional guest appearances, is not known.

• SCI FI would be interested in more Stargate SG-1 "if MGM came to us for less," Stern said -- indicating that the licensing fee for the 10-year-old show may have played a significant role in the network's decision not to renew it. Stern was previously quoted as saying that the show's depressed summer ratings were not the (sole) reason for the decision.
  
  But if U.S. television is not an option (apart from a mini-series or TV movie on SCI FI), what might MGM be considering?
  
  Pryor told the Associated Press that MGM believes that "in this new media world there are many more opportunities to continue (the) franchise. We're exploring those possibilities." Some fans have speculated that MGM may hope to make Stargate SG-1's eleventh season the first show ever to be offered exclusively online. New episodes from the current season are now available for $1.99 each on iTunes.

'Gate Expectations: SG-1 OK'd for Two Films'

Stargate SG-1 may be winding down its 10-year-run this spring, but here's some exciting news for its fans. MGM has granted a green light — and enough money — to produce two movies, most likely for DVD, executive producer Brad Wright tells TV Guide. The first flick will tie up most of the finale's loose threads — "It's the climax of the Ori story line" — and will be written-directed by exec producer Robert Cooper. The second film, penned by Wright, will involve time travel, and both projects should debut in the fall of 2007. Though no deals are signed, SG-1's stars are said to be "very eager" to continue. "They're not big-budget [films] by any definition, but for us it's pretty good," says Wright. "As we've proven over the years, just give us little more money and we can make pretty good television, or DVDs.
