"Eureka" (2006)
Welcome to Eureka
Nestled in the Pacific Northwest, Eureka is a seemingly ordinary town whose residents lead ordinary lives … at least to the naked eye. Shrouded in secrecy, the picturesque hamlet is actually a community of scientific geniuses assembled by the government to conduct top-secret research.
A (confidential) towns history
As World War II came to a close with mushroom clouds over Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the impact that science and technology would have on the continued security of our world became catastrophically apparent. America nearly lost the race to build the atomic bomb; it could not risk such a close call again.
With the help of Albert Einstein and other trusted advisors, President Harry S. Truman commissioned a top-secret residential development in a remote area of the Pacific Northwest, one that would serve to protect and nurture America's most valuable intellectual resources. There our nation's greatest thinkers, the über-geniuses working on the next era of scientific achievement, would be able to live and work in a supportive environment. The best architects and planners were commissioned to design a welcoming place for these superlative geniuses to reside, an area that would offer the best education for their children, the best healthcare, the best amenities and quality of life. A community was created to rival the most idyllic of America's small towns — with one major difference: this town would never appear on any maps. At least, none that haven't been classified "eyes only" by the Pentagon.
Thus, the town of Eureka was born. But for all its familiar, small-town trappings, things in this secret hamlet are anything but ordinary. The stereotype of the absent-minded professor exists for a reason, and most of the quantum leaps in science and technology during the past 50 years were produced by Eureka's elite researchers. Unfortunately, scientific exploration is rarely what one expects, and years of experiments gone awry have yielded some peculiar by-products.
From unrequited love to professional jealousy, from addiction to depression, the problems of Eureka's townsfolk stem from life's myriad of everyday challenges. But with the population's unique talents, troubled psyches and limitless resources, these small-town concerns have a way of becoming big-time problems. It is at that intersection, where human frailty and super-science collide, that Eureka begins…

Je stopt allemaal mensen die eerst wetenschapsnerds waren in een stadje dat Eureka heet en je laat ze daar doen alsof ze normaal zijn en niemand heeft door dat er iets niet klopt?
Desperate Houswives voor nerds dus

OCTOBER 05, 2006 -
Sci Fi Channel has ordered a 13-episode second season of its original series Eureka, which will begin production in Vancouver this spring with an eye toward a summer 2007 return.
Delivering an average 2.76 million total viewers in its first season, Eureka was Sci Fi’s top-rated series of 2006. The show also served up an average 1.5 million adults 25-54 and 1.3 million adults 18-49 since premiering on July 18.
The two-hour premiere stands as the most-watched debut in Sci Fi’s history, as 4.4 million people tuned in.
One of the more traditional science-fiction projects on the network’s slate, Eureka follows the adventures of a U.S. Marshall (Colin Ferguson) in a small town full of eccentric geniuses, who have been surreptitiously brought together by the government to conduct top-secret scientific research.

Idd, al zou ik het leuker hebben gevonden (interessanter voor het karakter) als ze geen reset knop hadden gebruikt voor Carter.Paulstartrek schreef:Leuke aflevering was het weer

Audience up 18 percent over first season
By MICHAEL HINMAN

Jul-11-2007
The town filled with geniuses has not grown old with audiences yet at all.
That's good news for SciFi Channel's "Eureka," which posted an 18 percent boost over its first season average as its second season premiere episode last Tuesday was watched by 2.5 million viewers making it the most-watched show on cable.
More than half of those viewers, 1.3 million of them, were adults 18 to 49, a key advertising demographic. That is 400,000 viewers less than who tuned in to the series premiere last year in the key demo, and 1.6 million less overall, but "Eureka" continues to be a major ratings winner for SciFi Channel, Variety reported.
The numbers were enough to make SciFi the No. 3 cable network for adults 18 to 49 and 25 to 54, and it was the best Tuesday night the cable channel has seen all year.
"Eureka," which premiered a new look for its key Global Dynamics facility as well as some changes in jobs for various characters, airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on SciFi Channel.
Goed om te weten dat Eureka de kijkers bij zich houdt, gezien dat bsg, sg1 en sga alledrie flinke daling in kijkcijfers zagen het afgelopen seizoen.
