Prelude to War: Battlestar Galactica in Concert/ballet

Jaja, je leest het goed, de muziek van Battlestar Galactica door Bear McCreary komt naar Europa en wel naar Hagen in Duitsland. (voor mij een reis van 2 uur, dus dicht bij de grens)

Dit heeft Bear erover te zeggen:

March 7th, 2009 will mark the first European performance of my music: The World Premiere of “Prelude to War” by the Hagen Philharmonic and Ballet of the Hagen Theatre in Germany. It will run throughout the spring, for 13 weeks.

“Prelude” is based on my scores for Battlestar Galactica, incorporating music from all four seasons (see the full program order below). The orchestra will be in the pit, but the taiko drums will share the stage with the dancers, incorporating their movements and energy into the visual performance. This ballet tells no specific narrative, but rather allows the dancers, lights, taiko drum ensemble and full orchestra to come together and support the story within the music itself.

This live performance will be very different than the performances at the Roxy in Los Angeles last spring. I selected much larger, more epic pieces than were featured in those concerts because I now have a full orchestra at my disposal. Performing works such as “Prelude to War,” “Passacaglia” and “Diaspora Oratorio” were simply not possible at the smaller LA venue. I’m thrilled that there is finally an opportunity to hear them in concert.

The program order will highlight many newer works from Season 4, including a suite from Sometimes a Great Notion. It will also include several outstanding pieces from the first three seasons:

The choreography is by Ricardo Fernando, and the orchestra will be conducted by Bernard Steiner. The orchestral arrangements were created by James Hopkins.

The ballet will premiere March 7th, 2009 and run for 13 weeks.

In tegenstelling tot de Amerikaanse shows zal deze dus meer het orchestrale werk bevatten en grootser worden. Daarnaast ook nog ballet erbij. Iets waar ik normaal geen fan van ben, maar das makkelijk te negeren en misschien vind ik het nog leuk ook voor de verandering. Bear McCreary zal niet zelf aanwezig zijn (behalve bij de premiere). Deel 2 en 3 zeggen mij helemaal niks, maar daar gaat het ook niet echt om eigenlijk. de lengte van het BSG gedeelte zal niet zo heel lang zijn aan de playlist te zien, maar ik heb het er wel voor over, zeker omdat het zo ongeveer een aaneenschakeling is van enkele van mijn grootste favorieten. Prijzen varieren van 13,50 (slechtste plek gok ik) tot 34 euro. (wat dan de beste plek zal zijn)

Aangezien hier wel interesse voor is denk ik zet ik het hier maar neer.

veel vlak voor of in tentamenweken data, dus ik kan op een hoop al niet.

Wel snel beslissen graag aangezien ik geen idee heb hoe populair dit wordt, laten we zeggen dat we volgende week woensdag beslissen welke dag het wordt. (als er interesse is en er ook data samenvallen) Ik ben btw voor de wat duurdere kaarten, aangezien ook die niet zo duur zijn en je zoiets toch niet vaak zal zien.

Volgens googlemaps 1 uur en 37min met de auto vanuit mij (zuid limburg) gezien. Jammergenoeg vind ik persoonlijk het programma wat zwak en mijn favoriete tracks staan er niet eens bij. De afwezigheid van Bear McCreary is ook een minpunt. En vanuit dit forum is ook al niet veel enthousiasme.

Ik heb ondertussen voor mezelf een datum geprikt (22 maart), ga nu samen met mijn moeder die de muziek ook regelmatig luistert.
