Details over Stargate SG-1 films
Oke, het zijn nog niet zoveel details. Maar toch.
Gateworld schreef:The titles for the first two Stargate SG-1 movies have been revealed! Executive producer Brad Wright shared the movies' working titles in a new interview at StargateSG1.com.
Stargate: The Ark of Truth is being written by SG-1 executive producer Robert C. Cooper, who will also direct it. The film will start principal photography on April 15, with a shooting schedule of roughly four weeks.
"That's going to be the story that [Cooper] wanted to end the season with," Wright said. "It's going to be a big, splashy feature film." The movie will tie up the 2-year Ori storyline from the television series.
"It is a great story," Wright said. "It's a big story. It involves travelling to the Ori galaxy."
Stargate: Continuum will follow as a stand-alone story, written by Wright. Long-time Stargate director Martin Wood is expected to be tapped to direct the film, which Wright hopes will prove that the SG-1 franchise can support an on-going series of movies.
"My movie is a stand-alone," he said. "And what I hope to prove is it's the first in a string of movies that can continue the SG-1 legacy. ... I hope it's the first of many 2-hour movies, direct-to-DVD or bigger. I think we can show -- and I hope the audience shows by buying the DVDs! -- that the franchise still has a long way to go."
Wright also confirmed that Ben Browder, Amanda Tapping, Michael Shanks, Christopher Judge, and Claudia Black have signed on for both films. (A deal with Beau Bridges was apparently being pursued when the interview was filmed in December, but the producer was not sure if it had been signed yet.)
Much of the SG-1 crew will also return behind the scenes.
The films are expected to be released on DVD next fall, but MGM's final plans have yet to be announced. Wright also expressed confidence that a deal would be struck from them to be broadcast on television at some point.
Keep it locked on GateWorld for the very latest! We will soon be adding these two titles to the Movies section and tracking everything we know about them there.
Gateworld schreef:
Former series lead Richard Dean Anderson has been approached to appear in the Stargate SG-1 direct-to-DVD movies -- but it's too early to know if he will appear in either of the two films already green-lit by MGM.
"I know that Brad [Wright, executive producer] has put a call into Richard Dean Anderson," executive producer Robert C. Cooper said in an interview at StargateSG1.com. "... We're hopeful he'll make an appearance, whether he's in both or just one. We're not sure yet.
"And we have some surprises we're hoping to pull out of our hats for returning villains and allies that we don't have confirmation on yet," Cooper added.
Anderson played Jack O'Neill on the hit series for eight years before entering "semi-retirement" to spend more time with his young daughter at home in southern California.
Ben Browder, Amanda Tapping, Michael Shanks, Christopher Judge, and Claudia Black have signed for both films, which will enter pre-production in March. The first movie, Stargate: The Ark of Truth will begin filming April 15. It will be written and directed by Cooper.
Wright will pen the second film, and definitely wants Anderson to appear in that one. "I don't know if the schedule is going to allow, or if the deal has been made or can be made," he said in a December interview. Wright is optimistic about Anderson's desire to continue to play a role in the Stargate franchise, evidenced by his two appearances on Stargate SG-1 and three on Stargate Atlantis this year.
"He doesn't necessarily have to be at the center of it anymore, but without that distinctive voice there is something missing [from Stargate]," he said. "I think there's a good chance it's going to happen. ... I'd like to say it will, but it's not for sure yet."
Anderson pulled off some amazing underwater action for his third Atlantis episode, "The Return, Part 2," which recently aired in Canada. It will premiere on the SCI FI Channel in the U.S. in April. He will also appear in the upcoming Stargate SG-1 episode "The Shroud."

Gateworld schreef:Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer today officially announced that it has greenlit the two Stargate SG-1 movies in development, which we reported on earlier (story): Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum. The company also released the first solid plot details for the two films.
Beware of spoilers below! Here's how the studio describes the storylines:
Stargate: The Ark of Truth
"As SG-1 searches for an Ancient artifact which they hope can defeat the armies of the Ori, they learn more Ori ships are about to be sent through the Supergate to launch a final assault on Earth. Daniel discovers that the artifact, the Ark of Truth, may be in the Ori home galaxy, and SG-1 embarks aboard the Odyssey to find it, and pre-empt the attack. The I.O.A. has a plan of their own and SG-1 ends up in a distant galaxy fighting two powerful enemies."
Stargate: Continuum
"While SG-1 attends the execution of Baal, the last of the Goa'uld System Lords, Teal'c and Vala inexplicably disappear into thin air. Carter, Daniel and Mitchell race back to a world where history has been changed: the Stargate program has been erased from the timeline. As they try to convince the authorities what's happened, a fleet of Goa'uld motherships arrives in orbit, led by Baal, his queen, Katesh (Vala), and his first prime, Teal'c. SG-1 must find the Stargate and set things right before the world is enslaved by the Goa'uld."
The first film will enter pre-production in March and begin filming in April, with an expected DVD release in the fall.

Wat plot spoilers voor de eerste film "The Ark Of Truth", verklapt nog niet heel veel, maar toch -> SPOILERS!!
GateWorld has uncovered brand new details on "Stargate: The Ark of Truth," the first direct-to-DVD Stargate SG-1 movie! Written and directed by SG-1 executive producer Robert C. Cooper, the film will pick up where the television series leaves off when its series finale airs this spring on SCI FI Channel.
Beware of spoilers below for the movie, and also for Season Ten's "Line In the Sand" and "Dominion."
The war with the forces of the Ori continues. But Earth (and all of our galaxy) has just gotten a major break: Tomin, Vala's husband and a commander of the invading armies, has defected.
SG-1 brings Tomin to Earth, and he tells them that the worshippers of the Ori are about to bring another wave of warships through the intergalactic Supergate. There has been little we could do to stand up to only the first four ships ("Flesh and Blood") -- with dozens of ships fighting their holy war, the Ori victory will be swift. And a coordinated attack on Earth is most certainly imminent.
Tomin is welcomed as a guest, a war-torn soul who is still coming to terms with the fact that he has done terrible things in the service of false gods. But the I.O.A., the agency over the Stargate program, wants to interrogate him as an enemy prisoner. With Richard Woolsey occupied with the Atlantis expedition, they send James Merek to the S.G.C. Merek pretends to be friendly and disarming, an ally just doing his job, but makes it clear to Tomin that he holds him in great disdain, heartlessly confronting him about his war atrocities. Soon Vala can't listen any more.
Meanwhile, SG-1 is planning a bold mission to travel to the Ori home galaxy itself. They are in search of the "Ortus Mallum" (Latin for "place of origin"), perhaps to find the "Ark of Truth," which they hope can put an end to the war. Tomin wishes to go with them, believing that he can help SG-1 make contact with the anti-Ori underground.
"Stargate: The Ark of Truth" will begin principal photography on April 15, and is expected to be released on DVD in North America this fall. There is no word yet on a release in other countries, or a potential televised airing.

NIRRTI IS BACK
After five years away from the Stargate universe, actress Jacqueline Samuda will make a return appearance in the upcoming film Stargate: Continuum. Samuda's official Web site announced recently that Samuda will reprise her role as the power-hungry Goa'uld Nirrti in the movie.
Continuum is the second of two direct-to-DVD movies that follow SG-1's final episode, and is filming now in Vancouver, B.C. In the movie, SG-1 must deal with a temporal paradox of huge proportions when the Goa'uld prevent SG-1 from ever forming.
SG-1 first met Nirrti when she travelled to Earth to represent the Goa'uld System Lords alongside Cronus and Yu in Season Three's pivotal episode "Fair Game." Always seeking to engineer an advanced human host body, the Hindu goddess was killed off in the sixth season episode "Metamorphosis."
Continuum and Stargate: The Ark of Truth are expected to be released on DVD this fall. The last episodes of Stargate SG-1 air Fridays this month at 8 p.m. Eastern/Pacific on SCI FI Channel in the U.S.

Wat minder leuk nieuws...
http://gateworld.net/news/2007/06/iark_ ... sed_.shtmlArk of Truth will be released in 2008
Sunday - June 24, 2007 | by Darren Sumner
The first Stargate direct-to-DVD movie won't arrive until the first half of 2008, Twentieth Century Fox tells GateWorld. MGM originally hoped to have Stargate: The Ark of Truth out this fall.
The visual effects-heavy film is currently in post-production.
The Ark of Truth will wrap up the two-year Ori story arc, which was left unresolved when SG-1 finished its tenth and final season on television this month.
The second direct-to-DVD movie, Stargate: Continuum, has likewise been bumped to 2008, following The Ark of Truth. Principal photography on the second movie recently concluded in Vancouver.
Murmurs of additional movies are already being discussed. If the first two are successful, MGM hopes to release about two SG-1 movies per year. "There is already talk of doing some more of these SG-1 movies," actor Michael Shanks recently wrote in his TV Guide blog, "so keep your finger's crossed."
With Stargate's traditional production schedule running from March to October, MGM may greenlight an additional film -- or at least commission a script -- before The Ark of Truth reaches store shelves.

[/snif]
