New character in "Battlestar Galactica" season 4 premiere

"Battlestar Galactica" returns in season four with a two-part episode entitled "Razor," and with it, comes a new female character.

For this episode only, we are introduced to Kendra Taggert, a Major from the now-destroyed Pegasus, who lost it when the war with the Cylons started, and is somewhat unhinged now. Her mother was a Quorum delegate who had to call in a few favors to get her aboard the Pegasus, with the expectation Kendra would command the fleet eventually. Another chick in her late 20’s, Kendra should fit in with the other female leads on “Galactica” now, not to mention the fact that she could relate to Lee Adama, given their similar circumstances.

The last season of “Galactica” drew some criticism from fans and critics alike for its unbalanced portrayal of its normally strong female characters. President Roslin’s cancer has relapsed and she had little to do during Gaius Baltar’s trial; Starbuck went more nuts and died only to return in the final moments of the season; and Roslin’s assistant, Tory, who has had nothing to do after rigging the presidential election during season 2, was revealed as a Cylon. With this new addition, are we being set up for more of the same? The Amazonian Cylon women also seemed shortchanged last season. I wouldn’t mind a little more asskicking.

We can also expect a few flashback scenes with a 20-something Admiral Adama, back when he was a rookie fighter pilot.

The two-part season premiere starts filming next week.

Hopenlijk wordt die nieuwe vrouwelijke karakter niet underused zoals met Boomer of Roslin in seizoen 3.

Ik bedoelde jou niet zozeer meer het idee van een nieuw vrouwelijk karakter waar ze dan lekker veel aandacht aan kunnen geven en zich niet bezig hoeven te houden met het verhaal....niets geleerd van Ezri in DS9 dus.

zou trouwens geen verrassing zijn...weer het begin van een nieuw seizoen en wederom iets om van het werkelijke verhaal af te wijken

'Battlestar Galactica' Will End After Fourth Season
Show stars make the announcement during Saturn Awards

It looks like it's four and out for "Battlestar Galactica."
Both series stars Edward James Olmos and Katee Sackhoff, who play Adm. William Adama and Kara "Starbuck" Thrace on the series, told IESB's Stephanie Sanchez that SciFi Channel will officially pull the plug on "Battlestar Galactica" following its fourth season, which begins in January.

"This will probably be the most extraordinary season of 'Battlestar,'" said Olmos, while attending the Saturn Awards Thursday night in Universal City, Calif. "It's the final season, so it's definitely going to be the most vicious. As far as we know, in respects of the way we have this show constructed, this is the final season."

After hearing that Olmos had already talked about it, Sackhoff almost confirmed to Sanchez that this would, in fact, be the final season of the show that has received across-the-board critical praise, but has been stumbling in the ratings in recent years.

"I think part of the problem is that it's an expensive show," said Sackhoff, who also implied that her guest role in the new NBC series "The Bionic Woman" may not be just a guest role after all. "It is [a great show], but we don't have the viewership that a great show should get."

Als ik de verhalen rond de serie las is het misschien niet eens zo slecht na seizoen 4 te stoppen.

Daar ben ik het helemaal mee eens...hoop nu alleen dat het vrouwelijke karakter, netzo als Ezri toen der tijd, niet veel te veel tijd gaat opeisen aan het begin van seizoen vier. Laat ze er een mooi eind aan maken en laten we idd vooral New Caprica zo snel mogelijk vergeten

Zelf had ik graag 5 seizoenen gezien. Ook al zouden de laatste twee maar 12 afleveingen hebben i.p.v. 1 seizoen met 22 i.v.m. de planning waar RDM nogal moeite mee schijnt te hebben getuige tweede helft seizoen twee en heel seizoen drie.

New Caprica storyline vond ik helemaal niet slecht, het had alleen wel wat beter uitgevoerd/ verteld kunnen worden.

Flight of Battlestar Continues

Battlestar Galactica's search for Earth continues to be an open-ended adventure, executive producer David Eick said.

Contrary to comments by Edward James Olmos (Adm. Adama) at the Saturn Awards on May10, no end has been announced for the award-winning show. Battlestar Galactica is preparing to film its fourth season, one that will include 22 episodes, rather than the previously announced 13.

"For those of you who have been paying attention over the years, this is not the first time Eddie has made an announcement about the possibility of the show's end," chuckled Eick. "I promise you that when [executiuve producer] Ron [Moore] and I make a decision about Galactica's future, we'll let you know."

het gaat zowiezo aan de ratings liggen denk ik komend seizoen, als die niet beter worden is er niet veel hoop denk ik.

nee, dan krijg je een open einde...want natuurlijk ontkomt de vloot dan net voordat de cylons de aarde opblazen, en zitten ze voor eeuwig in de ruimte vast...geen hoop, en hoogstwaarschijnlijk een tekort aan drinken en eten

Battlestar Galactica to End After Season 4

SCI FI Channel's "Battlestar Galactica" will sign off next year after its fourth season, producers said Thursday. Variety says the series had to fight to get renewed for a fourth season.

Executive producers Ronald D. Moore and David Eick issued a joint statement saying it was their decision to end the series.

"This show was always meant to have a beginning, a middle and, finally, an end," the producers said. "Over the course of the last year, the story and the characters have been moving strongly toward that end, and we've decided to listen to those internal voices and conclude the show on our own terms."

The producers promised to end the show "with a bang."

"Battlestar" will begin its fourth season with a two-hour episode in November. It will then return in early 2008 to finish out its 22-episode run.

SCI FI Channel hasn't yet said if it plans to move forward with a proposed "Battlestar" prequel series

Waarom

? Dan kunnen ze het tenminste fatsoenlijk afmaken. Ik heb liever dat er nu een goed einde aan gemaakt wordt dan dat ze nog een aantal jaren aanmodderen en plotselings moeten eindigen waardoor we een bagger einde krijgen. En eindigen met een 'bang', misschien is BG's scenario van een genukete aarde toch niet zo ver gezocht

hm, model ziet er beter uit dan gedacht...en ons vrouwelijk karakter was ook al verwacht...maar dit laat me wel heel erg in het duister, had wel wat onthullender gemogen
