Voyager 7 starts this month

Let me start by wishing everybody a happy 2002!! I'll start this new year with good news. This month the AVRO is going to start broadcasting Star Trek Voyager's final season. This actually is old news which was originally posted here in August of last year. Since that original post was a while ago, I'll repost the details here.

Last year, the AVRO stopped broadcasting new Voyager episodes. In January of that year, the last episode from season six 'Unimatrix Zero, Part I' was broadcasted. The reason why the AVRO did not broadcast season seven is that those episodes where not yet available to be broadcasted at the time. During most of the remainder of 2001 the AVRO broadcasted reruns of seasons five and six.

The AVRO did purchase the rights to broadcast season seven, but was only allowed to do so after December 15th 2001. Unfortunately for us, the AVRO was not able to start broadcasting Voyager in December since there was no room in the broadcasting schedule on Netherlands 2 untill January 2002.

In January of this year that room has become availble. On Monday January 28th, 2002 the AVRO will start broadcasting Voyager's season seven starting with episode one of season seven 'Unimatrix Zero, Part II'. On the Monday before that, part I of the double episode Unimatrix Zero will be broadcasted to freshen up your memory. Voyager will most likely be broadcasted every week.

The most hard core Star Trek fans have probably allready seen all Voyager episodes. Star Trek episodes are available for download on the internet a day after they have been broadcasted in the United States. Even for the fans without a good internet connection it has been possible to see Voyager season seven since most of the episodes are allready available on videotape in almost all Dutch mediastores and the BBC has also started broadcasted season seven in December 2001. But the majority of the Star Trek audience will probably watch the Voyager episodes on Netherlands 2 for the first time.
